Lock ontop of laptop keyboard to signify cybersecurity

The cybersecurity landscape is ever-changing. Even as old vulnerabilities get patched, new vulnerabilities continually are created, and new threats are developed by attackers intent on exploiting poor security for their own gain. Cybersecurity expertise is needed to recognize the current threats, determine how they apply to your organization, and develop the best solutions to protect your organization against the threats and attacks it is likely to face.

These days, attacks can be either wide ranging, hitting a specific organization by chance, or they can be narrowly targeted, tailored specifically to the characteristics and systems of a specific organization or specific person that the attacker desires to harm. Off the shelf security products such as antivirus software and intrusion detection systems are unlikely to detect targeted attacks. As the techniques of attackers become more sophisticated, they may not even detect a large portion of the wide-ranging attacks. Instead, defenses need to be in place that account for your organization’s specific software, specific data, and your specific confidentiality, integrity, and availability needs. We can help you determine where you face the most risk, and how to best mitigate such risk.

From a technical standpoint, we can offer software vulnerability assessment, to evaluate your software and systems for known security vulnerabilities, and inform you which ones are likely to be the most important to fix. We can also offer penetration testing, where we actively test if the vulnerabilities in your system are exploitable, without attempting to do actual harm, in order to assess the strength of your defenses. Having some idea of what vulnerabilities need to be addressed, we can offer assistance in implementing the necessary countermeasures.

If you are only addressing the technical side of security, you are only addressing half the problem. Many attacks rely on vulnerabilities that result not from software or computer system flaws, but instead resulting from gaps in procedure, or from employees that are not sufficiently prepared to identify a threat. We can help with the cybersecurity training and awareness program you need to enable your employees to recognize and respond to cybersecurity issues. We can also help develop or improve your policies and procedures for cybersecurity including incident response plans.

We have faculty members with expertise in a wide range of cybersecurity topics, as well as students eager to develop and test their skills. We can help your organization at all stages of the cybersecurity lifecycle. If your organization could benefit from assistance assessing your security needs, we can help with that process. If your organization knows its security needs, and desires help with implementation of cybersecurity controls, we can help with that too. If you already have the controls in place, and need assistance evaluating the efficacy of your current cybersecurity solutions, we can help with that as well. For these or any other cybersecurity needs do not hesitate to contact us today.
