Hospitality and Tourism Management Minor

Hospitality and tourism management (HTM) is a dynamic sector of the service industry encompassing a variety of careers including lodging, recreation, leisure, club management, resort operations, travel, tourism, and event management.

Program Overview

You can complement your major with a minor in HTM. A minor will expand your career opportunities while allowing you to customize a plan centered on a functional interest or an industry area relevant to your major including:

  • Food and beverage
  • Lodging
  • Meeting and events
  • Tourism

The additional credits can be in the area you are most interested in HTM, a combination of multiple areas, and may include General Education requirements and an SWS course.

Students minoring in HTM are encouraged to include at least one field experience course.

Location & Format

All undergraduate students begin their academic career on the Allendale Campus. Students in this major continue their upper division studies downtown on the Robert C. Pew Grand Rapids Campus.

Coursework

Students must complete a minimum of 21 credits with HTM department chair approval. Please arrange a meeting to establish a minor plan of study.

  • HTM 101 Introduction to HTM (3 credits)
  • Eighteen additional credits in HTM courses
