The AHS-HPD major is designed to complement health professionals whose careers include medical assisting, dental hygiene, radiography, sonography, and magnetic resonance imaging, along with positions as an occupational therapy aide, nuclear medicine technician, paramedic, and surgical technician. |

Allied Health Sciences, B.S. - Histotechnology emphasis | Histology is a laboratory science concerned with the demonstration of cellular morphology, chemical composition, and function of normal and abnormal tissue. A histotechnologist cuts, mounts, and stains tissues removed surgically to make the cell details visible for review. With the information learned from the section of tissue biopsy, a pathologist and physician can make appropriate diagnoses and determine the best course of treatment for a patient. The audiology degree at Grand Valley is a clinically focused, professional degree, allowing students greater application of knowledge upon graduation than other research-based programs. Students will be prepared to sit for the national examination and to qualify for state licensure upon completion of the program. |
