 La podrida mente de Willie Colón y su odio contra Venezuela

El Colectivo de Informacion Al Desnudo, como parte de la comunidad puertorriqueña, dominicana y  Latinoamérica de la diáspora, que cada semana en  nuestro programa radial estamos  en busca de la verdad y la des-codificación de la información manipulada por los medios masivos de comunicación. Respetamos los valores más altos de todas las  personas de bien.

Condenamos los comentarios del cantante puertorriqueño Willie Colon’ en su cuenta Twitter “Dios bendiga a Venezuela que tiene ahora dos Presidentes…uno maduro y otro podrido”. Desgraciadamente este hermano nuestro puertorriqueño, cobardemente y fuera de toda objetividad real y moral; ha cometido un acto de agresión y ofensa con sus comentarios:

 Primero: Contra el hermano pueblo de Venezuela y su Gobierno Bolivariano electo soberanamente por ellos, el 7 de Octubre pasado.

 Segundo:  El proceso político venezolano, es uno de los más democráticos de Nuestra America y la dignidad humana de su máximo líder , el Presidente  Hugo Chavez Frias, electo por voluntad popular con más de 8 millones de votos.  Merece  el absoluto respeto de los pueblos y seres humanos dignos de este planeta. Se puede disentir públicamente de cualquier fórmula política elegida democráticamente por los pueblos del mundo, pero hacer ironias sobre la enfermedad de un ser humano, es la forma mas miserable y baja  de una persona como Willie Colon,quien durante los  años 70  y 80 fozo de la admiración de los pueblo de Nuestros America.

 Tercero:  Faltarle el respeto, la dignidad y la sensibilidad humana al hermano  pueblo Bolivariano de Venezuela y  su líder máximo el Presidente Hugo Chávez Frías, quien se encuentra recuperándose de una operación de Cáncer en Cuba, son acciones condenadas por los pueblos del Mundo en general y de este programa Radial Informacion Al Desnudo en particular.

Oral history project traces Young Lords Movement

Student José Jiménez helped launch an oral history project that documents the Young Lords.

Faculty and student researchers launched an oral history project dedicated to documenting the history of the displacement of Puerto Ricans, Latinos and others from Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood in the 1960s.

The project is co-directed by José "Cha-Cha" Jiménez, who founded the Young Lords Movement in 1968, and Melanie Shell-Weiss, assistant professor of liberal studies. Core partners are Grand Valley's Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship, and Special Collections and University Archives.



"The Young Lords in Lincoln Park" project tells the story of the ongoing struggle with Chicago officials for fair housing, self-determination and human rights. Jiménez said he wanted to capture the history before the people who lived it are gone. "This is an immigrant story that hasn't been told yet," he said. "This history isn't recorded anywhere in Chicago."



Recording, preserving and making these memories accessible to teachers, researchers and the community is the project's guiding aim, Shell-Weiss said.

The project includes videotaped oral histories, photographs and a growing collection of related material; it can be found at www.gvsu.edu/younglords. The collection of more than 100 videotaped oral histories will be available online over the next year.



Additional materials that will be available online through the GVSU Libraries Digital Collections include historical photographs and papers documenting the origins of the Young Lords Movement. The papers include Jiménez's unpublished manuscripts from his campaign for Chicago alderman, as well as photos and documents donated by people who have been interviewed for the project.

On Sunday, September 23, 2012, faculty and undergraduate student researchers at Grand Valley State University (GVSU) launched an oral history project, dedicated to documenting the history of the displacement of Puerto Ricans, Mejicanos, other Latinos, and the poor from Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, as well as the history of the Young Lords nationwide. Recording, preserving, and making these memories accessible to teachers, researchers, and the community is the guiding aim of this effort.

“The Young Lords in Lincoln Park” project grows out of the ongoing struggle with the Richard J. Daley Machine for fair housing, self-determination, and human rights that was launched by Mr. José “Cha-Cha” Jiménez, who founded the Young Lords Movement on September 23, 1968. Just last Monday, the Greater Little Rock Church, which was the Young Lords’ People’s Church, was sold and will be torn down to build a Walgreen’s, underscoring the urgency of this preservation effort. The pastor then was United Methodist Rev. Bruce Johnson who was found brutally stabbed along with this wife, Eugenia, on September 30, 1969. Their murders have never been solved.

The GVSU project is co-directed by Mr. Jiménez and Professor Melanie Shell-Weiss, of the Liberal Studies Department in the GVSU Brooks College of Interdisciplinary Studies. Core partners in this effort include the GVSU Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship and the GVSU Special Collections and University Archives.

Highlights of this project include a rich collection of more than 100 videotaped oral histories which become fully available online over the next year. A subset of these oral histories as well as photographs and biographies of all 88 individuals who have been interviewed to date are currently available through the website.

Additional materials that will become available online through the GVSU Libraries Digital Collections include historical photographs, papers, and clippings documenting the origins of the Young Lords Movement including Mr. Jiménez’s unpublished manuscripts from his campaign for alderman of Chicago’s 46th ward, founding of the Lincoln Park Camp and KO Club (both in the Grand Rapids metropolitan area), as well as photos, documents, clippings, and related ephemera donated by other individuals who have been interviewed as part of this project.
