Amorak Huey is author of the poetry collections Ha Ha Ha Thump (Sundress Publications, 2015) and Boom Box (Sundress Publications, forthcoming in 2019) as well as the chapbooks The Insomniac Circus (Hyacinth Girl Press, 2014) and A Map of the Farm Three Miles from the End of Happy Hollow Road (Porkbelly Press, 2016). He is recipient of a 2017 National Endowment for the Arts fellowship in poetry, and his poetry and essays have appeared in The Best American Poetry 2012The Southern ReviewBrevityWaxwingThe Adroit JournalNinth LetterThe Cincinnati Review, and many other print and online journals. With Writing Department colleague W. Todd Kaneko, he is author of the textbook Poetry: A Writer’s Guide and Anthology (Bloomsbury Academic, 2018). 
 

At GVSU, Huey teaches courses in poetry, style, and nonfiction, as well as introduction to creative writing. Since 2013, he has served as faculty advisor for Fishladder, the student journal of art and literature. Currently, he is working on a novel and seeking a publisher for a new poetry collection.
