As 2002 comes to a close, we look back on an extremely successful and productive year. The addition of new staff has greatly increased the scientific expertise at AWRI. In addition, we completed the seawall and landscaping, are putting the finishing touches on the new office and lab spaces at the Lake Michigan Center, and are almost finished with our new mesocosm facility in the field station. AWRI staff continued to successfully compete for extramural funding, and authored a number of important scientific manuscripts and reports.
As 2003 begins, we look forward to another successful year. Upcoming events for 2003 include the initiation of the graduate program, the second visit of our Science Advisory Board in March, the Tall Ships in August, and the State of the Lake Conference in October.
