AWRI Newsletter #35: October 2004

The Lake Michigan Center is, of course, the home of the Annis Water Resources Institute, but it also serves as an important venue for disseminating information to the community. If you include all the activities that occur in our classrooms, conference room, and multipurpose room, we average approximately 1 event for every 1.33 business days. Many of these events are listed explicitly in this newsletter to give our readers a flavor of what goes on here. These activities focus mainly on environmental and scientific issues, but we are proud to also host events as wide-ranging as non-profit executive seminars, candidate forums for local elections, and an appreciation reception for Howmet Corporation. Our primary vehicle for providing scientific information to the community is our Third Thursday seminar series---AWRI brings in a scientific speaker on the third Thursday of each month (and occasionally more often that that!); sometimes the speakers are from within the region or state, while other times they are from elsewhere in the nation or from an international locale. Please look for these announcements in the newsletter and on our website.
