AWRI Newsletter #43: July 2005

The mission of the Annis Water Resources Institute is to integrate education, outreach, and research to enhance and preserve freshwater resources. This mission leads our faculty, staff, and students down a variety of pathways, some of which are less traditional than others. One of the activities that AWRI personnel have become involved with is the redevelopment of downtown Muskegon. We are proud that the City leaders have engaged the expertise of AWRI to assist them with smart growth strategies, green technologies, and environmentally friendly designs. This type of community service is a hallmark of Grand Valley State University, and it is our fervent hope that our involvement with Muskegon will result in an urban center that embraces an environmentally sensitive, health-conscious, and diverse lifestyle.
