We are very pleased to announce the hiring of James McNair, a new principal investigator (PI) at the Annis Water Resources Institute. Jim comes to AWRI from the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia, where he was head of the quantitative population biology section at the Patrick Center for Environmental Research. Jim's expertise in modeling and quantitative ecology will be a valuable resource for both the PIs at AWRI and other faculty at GVSU.
Jim's resume is impressive: a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania, assistant professor of Biology at Purdue University, and positions of increasing responsibility at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia. He has ~40 publications in the peer-reviewed scientific literature and has attracted over $5 million dollars in research grants and contracts over the past 10 years.
In his first year at AWRI, Jim will continue working on his NSF-funded project examining the dynamics of organic particles in river networks, begin new collaborations with AWRI staff, and focus on developing new research activities and courses to teach. We welcome Jim to AWRI and GVSU!
