The Annis Water Resources Institute is very pleased to announce that Dr. James McNair will be joining us in February, 2009 as a new principal investigator. Jim comes to us from the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia, where he currently serves ad Head of the quantitative population section of the Patrick Center for Environmental Research. Jim's current research interests include 1) transport of particles and benthic insects in streams; 2) spread and control of invasive plants; 3) stream restoration ecology; 4) ecotoxicological effects of trace contaminants in the environment; 5) use of artificial intelligence techniques to predict stream flow; and 6) predicting effects of land use cover-derived stressors on stream ecological integrity using spatially explicit watershed models.
Jim received his BS in Biology (cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa)from Davidson College and his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania.
