ReACT! is a peer theatre education troupe that uses interactive theatre methods, performed live by GVSU student actors, to stop incidents of dating and domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Audience members will explore how they can engage in realistic, safe, and effective methods for preventing and ending violence.
This is a theatre performance by GVSU students and is directed and facilitated by Professor A. Metz. Statistics and myths surrounding sexual violence is discussed.
Learning Outcomes:
Participants will learn realistic methods to address sexual violence
Participants will understand how less severe beviors contribute to a culture of sexual violence (ie. sexiest & degrading language)
Participants will be able to identify appropriate campus resources to support victims/survivors of sexual violence
ReACT! is a partnership between GVSU’s Women’s Center and the School of Communication’s Theatre area, and is funded by the Office on Violence Against Women, U.S. Department of Justice.
