We are fortunate to have three very outstanding undergraduate student facilitators participating in the WISE Group Study Sessions for Fall 2006.  These students will be available to assist students with their courses in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics.  The Schedule is available on the Webpage at GROUP STUDY SESSIONS


We are fortunate to welcome two new upperclass student facilitators to WISE for the Winter 2007 semester.  We have a new Biology facilitator, Alana Kincaid and have added another chemistry hour/week of assistance and so welcome Brittany Benson as our second chemistry facilitator.  Please take a moment and welcome these new faces to WISE!


Biology Facilitator: Alana Kincaid

Major: Biology major with a pre-vet emphasis

Career Goals: after GVSU I want to attend vet school and eventually become a small animal vet in West Michigan.

About Alana: About me: I am from Cedar Springs, MI, a small town 15 miles or so north of Grand Rapids. My hobbies are running, playing volleyball, reading, watching movies and Desperate Housewives (my guilty pleasure!). After graduating from GVSU I hope to attend MSU's veterinary school. My career goal is to become a small animal veterinarian and work at a suburban clinic somewhere here in West Michigan.

About Me: I love Chemistry! I am a senior and am planning on graduating in the Spring. I am the president of Chemistry Club, and I encourage anyone with the slightest interest in chemistry to join. I also enjoy extra curricular activities outside of chemistry. I am currently taking beginning ballet and play french horn in the GVSU Concert Band. My career goal is still undecided. I do enjoy sharing my excitement for chemistry, so maybe I'll be a chemistry professor!

Goals: I plan on teaching high school math- preferably trig or calculus. But no matter which classes I end up teaching, I hope that I can make math fun for my students.

About Leah: I am from Bath, a small town located near Lansing. I like to play piano and go to Lake Michigan in my spare time. I also love to travel and spend time with my family. My academic goal is to earn a Masters of Physician Assistant from Grand Valley's PA program.
