The Triota Student Lecture Series
The Triota Student Lecture Series is a student-run, student-judged event, hosted by Iota Iota Iota (Triota) Beta Delta, Grand Valley State University's Women and Gender Studies Honor Society. It will make its debut March 18th, 2010.
The goal of the Triota SLS is to give all Grand Valley students the opportunity to present their scholarly feminist work to peers at “lecture nights” on campus. Abstracts (proposals for presentation) are currently being accepted.
Those students whose pieces are submitted on or before the March 10th, 2010 deadline will have the opportunity to present at the March 18th event, or at a later date if unavailable. Pieces accepted after the deadline will be scheduled for a later event date.
Please see the call for submissions/abstracts flyer for more information on what to submit. Keep in mind that “feminist” work need not necessarily be about gender, but rather instead holds a progressive, inclusive view. The flyer includes some examples. Submissions need not be sent only by Women and Gender Studies students. Rather, all Grand Valley students. Also keep in mind that “scholarly” work can mean a variety of things, including original creative performances with a discussion after-- not only research projects/papers, though those are also welcome.
Please attach the brief application with your abstract submission (of 150-200 words). Send all abstracts/applications, and questions or concerns, to firstname.lastname@example.org
