University Career Advancement Network

As you grow your career, it's important to develop a network of professionals willing to provide you with guidance and feedback. But the effort of routinely networking can be challenging. Time constraints, membership commitments or even the idea of requesting someone's time, may be daunting. Still, career success requires a regular commitment to informational interviewing-a question-driven meeting designed to seek guidance, inspiration, coaching and mentoring.

UCAN was designed to help ease the networking process. The University Career Advancement Network (UCAN) is a vehicle for connecting GVSU staff members for informational interviewing purposes by offering a database of fellow professionals who are willing to share, inspire and help you grow professionally. This voluntary resources bank is managed through the Human Resource Career Services for Faculty and Staff Consultant, (Kim Monaghan) and helps pave the way for staff members to come together for confidential one-to-one career enhancing conversations.

Purpose: Connecting GVSU staff members across campuses to facilitate collaborative conversations with each other for the purpose of promoting informational interviewing, professional development and career advancement

If you are interested in signing up to volunteer for the University Career Advancement Network, or being connected with a UCAN volunteer, please contact Kim Monaghan for more information at (616) 430-7170.
