Professional Development Committee

Established Oct. 2007

Committee Members:

• Erin Busscher, Academic Advisor, Kirkhof College of Nursing
• Jo Ann Wassenaar, Associate Director, Women's Center
• Katie Lewis, Secretary, Alumni Relations

Committee focus:

Examine ways Grand Valley State University could better meet institutional goals of diversity and inclusion while fulfilling the professional development needs of its current employees.

Long term goal:

To connect research to best practices in an effort to provide structured professional development to current Grand Valley State University employees across all employee groups.

Proposed timeline:

• Oct 2007 committee formed
• Nov 2007 investigation/research begins
• Jan 2008 Careers In Higher Education panel discussion held for COTs
• Nov 2008 initial meeting with Human Resources to introduce a plan for a pilot program
• Sept 2009 pilot program approved by the Executive Officers
• Oct 2009 planning committee formed and initial meeting to plan the pilot program
