Interprofessional Education
Interprofessional Education and Scholarship Initiatives
Interprofessional education (IPE) and scholarship initiatives are the priority of the vice provost for health's office and are supported by Grand Valley's state-of-the-art simulation center and learning resource laboratories, which:
- Serve as a safe practice environment for learning clinical skills.
- Provide rich opportunities for educational experiences.
- Result in thoroughly cross-trained professionals who utilize clear communications skills and possess a solid understanding of their field of study.
- Produce health care professionals of various disciplines who understand each other's roles and work effectively in team settings.
The core competencies of IPE focus on:

The West Michigan Model of Interprofessional Education incorporates these core competencies into the following champion areas that bridge practice with education:

Dedicated interdisciplinary workgroups meet on a monthly basis to achieve short- and long-term goals. We invite you to participate and support these workgroups as we learn and work together to transform health care.
