Three GVSU Professors among the Ten Favorite Grand Rapids Artists

Anna Campbell (Associate Professor of Sculpture, Visual Studies and Foundation), Many Cano Villalobos (adjunct Professor of Foundations), and Norwood Viviano (Associate Professor of Sculpture and Foundations) were recently featured in MLive's Ten Favorite Grand Rapids Artists, a list compiled by Kevin Buist and written on behalf of cultured.Gr, a project that "bridges the challenges posed by a shifting journalistic landscape by connecting arts information directly to its readership".
As a Facebook experiment, Kevin Buist, asked: "Who are the best artists in Grand Rapids? I want names". After about 70 comments and hundreds of names gathered, the author of the post compiled a personal list so readers are encouraged to argue with Kevin and tell him who the best artists are.
"Reading the names gave me a sense of the breadth and depth of the artist community in Grand Rapids that I hadn't sensed before. This was an odd feeling, because even though I knew well over half the artists listed, there was still a power in seeing them all written down." — Buist says. His personal list was published January 16th, 2017 at 06:54 am on MLive titled "Naming Names: My 10 Favorite Grand Rapids Artists". The complete piece is available here.
