Starting this year's Illustration Mentoring Course Program is illustrator Jaime Anderson. Jaime is a Minneapolis-based illustrator who specializes in Editorial and Advertising Illustration. Her recent assignments include work for the New Yorker, Bicycle Alliance of MN, The Growler Magazine, Star Tribune, Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, The Dish Network, Hour Detroit, The Wall Street Journal, American Express, and Oregon Business Magazine.

Her work has been recognized in DPI Magazine, Applied Arts Magazine, American Illustration, CMYK, Creative Quarterly, and the Society of Illustrators West.

Anderson received a BFA from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She also received an MFA in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design. She teaches Illustration at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Jaime has also taught illustration courses at Emily Carr University of Art and Design (Vancouver, BC).

Jaime will visit the illustration program on Friday, October 20th for a Surface/Pattern Demo and Talk. She will show techniques to harmonize illustration with surface design. She will also discuss the current state of textile design and licensing.

Jaime's work can be seen at https://www.jaimeanderson.com/

The Mentoring Program brings acclaimed, working professionals in a variety of modes of illustration every fall. The artists visit GVSU, work with Illustration students in the classroom, and give a talk to the department at large. Students benefit from this high-impact learning interaction by understanding about the professional world. Professors Durwin Talon and Guin Thompson organize the program every year.
