The US Congress established the Library of Congress Veterans History Project in 2001 to collect memories, accounts and documents of our war veterans from WWII to the present. Under the banner GVSU Veterans History Project, the History Department and the University Library proudly became established as a collecting and archive partner of the Library of Congress in this national project. Under the direction of Dr. James Smither, students and faculty—together with area schools, partner organizations, and volunteers from the community—are preserving and storing veterans’ stories and experiences.
