Recognition Cords for Commencement December 7, 2013

Date: November 19, 2013

As a courtesy provided by President Haas, every graduating student who has served, or currently serves, in any of the five branches of the US Armed Forces, is entitled to receive and wear a red, white, and blue Recognition Cord to his/her Commencement Ceremony.

If you have served in the US Armed Forces, will be earning your degree in December 2013, and will be attending Commencement on December 7th at Van Andel Arena, Grand Rapids, MI, you are eligible to receive this Cord; however, you must send an email to Steven Lipnicki at lipnicks@gvsu.edu to request it!

Again, the only requirements to receive your FREE Patriotic Recognition Cord are that you:

a) Will be participating in the University’s Commencement Ceremony on December 7, 2013

b) Personally served in the US Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, or Coast Guard

c) Present a valid photo ID (non-military OK) to verify your identity

While we recognize the impact on immediate family members, this Recognition Cord is intended to honor those who have personally served.

After you have reserved your Cord, it will be available for pick-up starting Monday, November 18, at the Dean of Students, 202 Student Services Building, Allendale between 0800 - 1700, Mon-Fri.

If more convenient, please contact me to make other arrangements to obtain your Cord at DeVos Center, Pew Campus.
