Van Andel Global Trade Center receives export grant

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. —  The Van Andel Global Trade Center, an outreach center of Grand Valley State University, has been helping small and medium-sized businesses grow internationally and expand to new export markets since 1999. In continuation of these efforts, the State of Michigan has awarded the center a $460,000 Michigan Export Grant.

The grant will allow eligible Michigan companies, within 20 counties of West Michigan, the opportunity to participate in free international market research, as well as determine potential opportunities new global markets may hold for Michigan products and services. Companies may also qualify for reimbursement of pre-approved, out-of-pocket export sales and marketing activities.

“International market research for Michigan companies brings huge benefits to the local community in which we serve,” said Sonja Johnson, director of the Van Andel Global Trade Center. “The international information helps West Michigan businesses with critical details needed as they strategically grow either a new or existing export market. We look forward to seeing the impact in the community through job growth supporting increased export sales across the globe.”
