Communications Specialist/Social Media
Matthew began working for Grand Valley State University’s University Communications office in 2014 as a communications specialist. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in communications from Grand Valley after graduating in 2010 with his bachelor’s degree in broadcasting and film/video production.
For more than two years, Matthew held multiple positions at WXMI FOX 17 in Grand Rapids, including studio operations technician, news photographer and news producer. Following his time at FOX 17, Matthew became a member of the Employee Communications and Engagement team at Herman Miller. There, his primary responsibilities included corporate messaging, internal video production, Intranet maintenance and design, graphic design for digital signage and corporate event planning.
Matthew is currently responsible for co-managing the content creation and strategy design for Grand Valley's social media accounts, media relations and generating positive stories for GVNow, Forum and Grand Valley Magazine from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, University Libraries, Galleries and Collections and the Sylvia and Richard Kaufman Interfaith Institute.
