Trumpet Seminar
Trumpet Competition
This year's trumpet competition will be sponsored by the Yamaha Corporation. The first prize for the High School Division will be a Xeno model trumpet. The first prize for the College Division will be an Artist model trumpet.
Students competing in either competition will need to pay a $20 fee to help pay for an accompanist. They will also have to choose from the following approved repertiore list. If a piece you would like to perform is not on this list, please email Jeffrey Northman at jeffnorth86@gmail.com to okay the piece by June 28th. If you don't confirm a piece not on the list by that date, you will not be allowed to perform it in the competition. The list is as follows:
Students wishing to compete must either be students at the seminar or must pay a $100 entrance fee. This fee will allow you to compete in the competition on July 27th and will grant you access to the masterclass and concert for that day as well as a rehearsal with your accompanist on the 26th. An additional $15 will buy you lunch and dinner on that day. We will not provide you housing if you choose to only attend the competition, but there is an affordable hotel right across the street from the Grand Valley Campus. Anybody wishing to sign up for only the competition should fill out the registration page normally, but add a note in the final section ("How did you hear about the seminar") that you would only like to participate in the competition and whether you would like food or not. Those participating in only the competition may elect to pay the daily rate to attend other seminar functions.
