The transition to University life is one that both a student and their loved ones experience. Students will gain expierence and grow with the support and encouragement from their loved ones. The process is one that requires both parties to make decisions and make choices together as well as independently. The National Orientation Directors Association has offered the following resources for families as they experience this exciting transitional time!

Helping Your First-Year College Student Succeed: A Guide for Parents
published jointly by the National Orientation Directors Association and the National Resource Center for The First-Year Experience and Students in Transition, offers practical advice on how parents can help their students make a successful transition to college.

A Guide for Families of Commuter Students: Supporting Your Student's Success describes the transition to college from the perspective of the commuter student and offers guidance to families on helping students navigate the transition to college and succeed.
