What If Analysis

"WHAT IF" allows you to see what you would have to complete for any Grand Valley Major, major concentration (if applicable) and Minors.  What if analysis accounts for Grand Valley courses you have already registered for, officially transferred in and those completed at Grand Valley.

To complete a "What If" analysis follow the steps below.

    1.  Go to "MyBanner" under the Current Students tab at http://www.gvsu.edu
    2.  Enter your G number and 6 digit PIN (initially set as birth month/day/year)
    3.  Click on the following
  •     Student and Financial Aid
  •     Student Records
  •     Degree Evaluation
    4.  Scroll down and click on "What If Analysis" in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen
    5.  Select your entry term - the semester when you started at Grand Valley
    6.  Select a major from the program drop-down list
    7.  Select a major department from first major drop-down list
  •     If the major requires a concentration click on "Add More" and select
  •     If you wish to add a minor click on "Add More" again
    8.  Verify term and click on "Generate Request" and wait a moment
    9.  Select "Detail Requirements"

The analysis will outline requirements as follows:

  • Theme
    • Choose one theme and complete three courses from different disciplines or subjects
When you see a "No" in the far left column it means you still need to register for and complete that requirement.  Click on the course to view the course description.  A "Yes" means you have registered for or completed the requirement which is on the right-hand side.

Remember that you need to successfully complete
a minimum of 120 credit hours to graduate.
