GVSU Opera Theatre presents

THE THREE PENNY OPERA
Books and lyrics by Bertolt Brecht
Music by Kurt Weil - February 1 - 10, 2013

Produced by Dale Schriemer and Directed by Dorothy Danner

Weill and Brecht transformed old fashioned opera with the fresh sounds of jazz and cabaret style music inspiring the musicals Cabaret and Chicago. Set in Victorian England, Macheath (Mack the Knife), a notorious felon and womanizer, runs his own gang of thieves, marries the daughter of the King of Beggars, is arrested, convicted, and scheduled for execution. At the last minute he's saved by the Queen and given the title of Baron! This political satire will feature a live jazz orchestra and GVSU students bound for Broadway and beyond!

February 1, 2, 8 & 9 . . . . . . . . 7:30 p.m.
February 3 & 10 . . . . . . . . . . . 2:00 p.m.
Tickets range $14.00 to $6.00 for Adults, Seniors, Alumni, and Students
