Lunchtime Sustainability Conversations

GVSU’s Sustainable Community Development Initiative invites students, faculty, staff and the community to join us for lunchtime conversations on sustainability. We will watch a short video and follow up with a discussion. No RSVP necessary. Just stop by, enjoy the food and join the conversation.

Annie Leonard: The Story of Stuff
The Story of Stuff takes you on a provocative tour of our consumer-driven culture–from resource extraction to iPod incineration. Watch this 20-minute, fast-paced, fact-filled look at the underside of production, consumption, and waste. It’ll teach you something.

Colin Beavan: To Hell with Sustainability
Colin Beavan is an American grassroots green movement leader whose non-profit, The No Impact Project, helps citizens choose happier, more sustainable lifestyles. He founded the effort after launching a year-long project in 2006 when he, his wife, his daughter, and his dog went off the grid and attempted to live in the middle of New York City with as little environmental impact as possible.
