A: I chose Turin, Italy because I wanted to be in Europe so I could travel and Italy was really amazing.

Q: What are some things that surprised you about the campus, the classes, the culture, customs or traditions?
A: I was surprised at how small the school building was and also at the small amount of people that spoke any English, but I really liked that because I truly felt like I was abroad and got to experience true Italian life.

Q: What are some things you would like students to know about studying abroad in this destination or the program provider you studied with?

Katherine Werner's Experience

Name: Katherine Werner
Major: Health Sciences
Program: Faculty-Led
Traveled Abroad Before: Yes

Q: What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of your study abroad experience?
A: The first thing that comes to mind is the little town we stayed in which is in the Piedmont region. I remember this the most because it was like a second home to me when abroad. The locals were very welcoming and willing to answer questions we had about Italy. Also because of the view of the vineyards which was remarkable.

Q: Why did you choose this destination?
A: I have always been interested in traveling to Italy. Also because this specific program dealt with the culture aspect of the country which is what I wanted to study.

Q: What are some things you would like students to know about studying abroad in this destination or the program provider you studied with?
A: I would recommend bringing tennis shoes because the professors didn't tell us how intense the hikes would be and it was annoying not having them. Also I enjoyed Lisa on the trip because if there was ever a problem, she was always there to chat. Also there are quizzes on the trip, I would have liked the professors to give us more time to study for them.

Q: What advice would you offer?
A: I had a remarkable time in Italy, for your independent travel most people went to Rome and Florence which I don't regret at all. Charlie wanted us to go to a smaller place but I would recommend Florence and Rome to get the city aspect of the country.

Q: What was your academic goal while studying abroad?
A: My academic goal was understanding the importance of tourism management and how it was different than the United States. Also to understand different food Italians are known for. Also to understand the differences in wine.
