Sam Tonks, South Korea

My name is Sam Tonks and I studied abroad at SeoulTech University in South Korea. Being a smaller program, I was entirely surrounded by internationals at school, which allowed me to be more immersed in Korean culture.

Alan Carter, Spain

As a sophomore abroad for an academic year I never would have imagined how much of an impact study abroad would have on me. I am living the dream in Salamanca, Spain, which has become my home away from home.

Gretchen Pyscher, Ireland

For my Therapeutic Recreation Fieldwork I had the honor to work at Barretstown Camp in Ballymore Eustace, Ireland. This camp is for kids with serious illness and it gives them a break to just be kids again.

Abigail Lyons, Dominican Republic

I stayed with a host family in Santo Domingo, which is the capital of the DR, and my host mom was amazing! She always answered any questions I had and she also made the most amazing food!

Christian Long, Germany

Working globally is what drives my career today. That is what I put on every cover letter for any job application. Studying abroad through Grand Valley was easily the best thing that I ever did, and all I can think about is going abroad again.

Courtney Boetsma, Spain

I had high expectations for my trip, but this experience in Ourense exceeded all of those expectations. I had an amazing host family, who I still keep in contact with. I was able to experience teaching in another culture.

Kendra Pollard, Thailand

The four months that I spent in Thailand were full of adventure, excitement, and so many opportunities to grow. Thailand challenged me to really step out of my comfort zone and it pushed me to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.

Barbara Wheeler, Northern Ireland

During my study abroad experience, I traveled throughout Ireland and the United Kingdom for about six weeks. I participated in many excursions and studied both the Celtic and British cultures through literature.

Katelyn Zink, Australia

Traveling across the world to student teach in a new continent, Australia, was a dream come true! I was able to learn about the education system, along with getting to know my students and experience their culture.

Josie Wing, Germany

Last semester, fall 2015, I spent in Germany at a partner university. During my time there, I got to visit a few different countries and only stayed at my host university three weekends. I was able to have the experience of a lifetime.
