Determining Your Academic Goals
Academic planning is an important part of your study abroad pre-departure preparations. With the right program and good planning, GVSU students can earn credits toward degree requirements including:
Review your degree progress report by visiting myPath. In order to select a Study Abroad program that is academically appropriate, you should be aware of your progress here at GVSU. Decide which major, minor, general education, and elective requirements must still be met. Here are a couple ways to determine which program would meet your requirements.
If you are wondering what requirements you still need to fulfill in order to graduate, you can log onto myBanner and reference to your myPath. myPath will be able to tell you what courses you still need to take for degree requirements.
Meeting with your academic advisor prior to picking a study abroad program will help you make more informed decisions about what courses to take while you are studying at the host institution. An academic advisor may be able to point out additional considerations that are specific to your major, minor, or General Education requirements. The Academic Planning Form may help you plan out your courses abroad.
This is a resource that help direct students to study abroad programs that are compatible with a particular major/degree program. Our goal is to create a resource that can ultimately be used to help students identify a set of ideal study abroad programs in which they can continue to advance towards their degree at GVSU by taking courses in their major or minor.
