About the University of the Sunshine Coast

The USC is considered an outstanding performer in higher education. With a current student enrollment of 5,800 students from over 50 different countries, USC is one of the fastest growing campuses in Australia. You can study a wide-range of subjects including: accounting, Australian studies, cultural studies, biomedical sciences, communications, computer-based art & design, environmental science, human resource management, information systems, international studies, management, marine studies, marketing, microbiology, public health, sports and exercise science, tourism and much more.

 

Location

The University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) is located in Sippy Downs, Australia, just one hour away from Queensland’s capital, Brisbane. The Sunshine Coast is considered one of the most beautiful regions in Australia with world-class beaches, national parks, and a sub-tropical climate that is ideal for an outdoor lifestyle
.

Housing

There are no on-campus housing units at USC; however, students live in apartments that are within walking distance from the USC campus. 

Students can either book their accommodations online directly through the provider or access support through the International Office for a nominal fee.

 

Academic Program & Courses

  • Fall (semester 2): mid-July—November (19 weeks)
  • Winter (semester 1): mid-February—June (19 weeks)
  • Academic Year: mid-February—November (approx. 40 weeks)

Glossary of Terms:

  • Units = US class
  • Course = US major
  • Faculties = US school or college  (e.g., the Faculty of Engineering is the School of Engineering)
  • Tutorial = Class of 5-25 students where an academic leads group discussions and students make individual or group presentations.
