Meet the Senators

We, the members of the Grand Valley State University Student Senate, being determined to ensure the conveyance of the student voice to university governing bodies, the administration and the Board of Trustees in matters of institutional policies; to establish an effective and efficient, responsible and responsive student government; to retain the sole authority to appoint and remove student representation to all university standing committees and advisory boards; do hereby dedicate ourselves to be a body of proactive leaders representing all students and their diverse, ever-changing needs.

 

Natalie Cleary, President

Natalie is a senior from Grand Rapids, MI, majoring in Political Science. She has served on Student Senate for three years, and is active in several other student organizations as well.  She is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society, and is a fellow at the Peter Cook Leadership Academy at the Hauenstein Center for Presidential Studies.

Ali Zimmer, Executive Vice President

Ali is a senior from Grosse Pointe, MI, majoring in Business Economics. She is the chair of the President's Ball Subcommittee. Ali also works in the Administration Office.

Megan Sundberg, Office Manager

Megan is a senior from Northville, Mi, majoring in Health Professions with a minor in Psychology. Megan is also involved Circle K International and the Occupational Thearapy Club.

Greg King, Vice President of Senate Resources

Greg is a junior from Ortonville, MI, double majoring in Supply Chain Management and Marketing with an emphasis in Distribution and Logistics. He is also involved in the Honors College, Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, Habitat for Humanity, Sigma Alpha Lambda Honorary Fraternity, and he works in the Admissions Office.

Danielle Meirow

Danielle is a junior from St. Clair Shores, MI, majoring in Biomedical Science with an emphasis in Microbiology and double minoring in Chemistry and Women and Gender Studies. She is also involved in the Honors College, Pre-Med Club and Sigma Alpha Lambda Honorary Fraternity, and work as a Resident Assistant.

Caley Faulkner

Caley is a sophomore from Naperville, IL, majoring in Physical Education with an emphasis in Professional Instruction and a minoring in Health Education. She is also involved in the Physical Education Club, Campus Crusade for Christ, Younglife, and pole vaults for the GVSU Track Team.

Shelbi Rushing

Shelbi is a freshman from Clawson, MI, currently undecided with her major. She is also involved in Sigma Kappa Sorority, Campus Crusade for Christ, and Campus Ministries.

Dave Pacini, Vice President of Finance

Dave is a senior from Troy, MI, double majoring in Accounting and Finance with a minor in Spanish. He is involved in Sigma Pi Fraternity and the University Judicial Board.

Logan Brenk

Logan is a junior from Lowell, MI, majoring in Biomedical Science with a double minor in Women and Gender Studies and Chemistry. He is also involved in Sigma Pi Fraternity and the Center for Inquiry.

Samantha Conrad

Samantha is a sophomore from Joliet, IL, majoring in International Business with a minor in Middle Eastern Studies. She is also involved Sigma Kappa Sorority.

Spencer Masiewicz

Spencer is a senior from Rockford, MI, majoring in Biomedical Sciences and minoring in Spanish. He is also involved in Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity, Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Society, and the Order of Omega.

Billy Hannay

Billy is a senior from Rockford, MI, majoring in Biomedical Sciences. He is also the Vice President of Alpha Sigma Pi Fraternity, and is involved in Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Society and the Order of Omega.

Stephanie Ewart

Stephanie is a sophomore from Macomb Township, MI, double majoring in Finance and Accounting with a minor in Political Science. She is also involved in Sigma Kappa Sorority and is the Vice President of Scholarship for the Panhellenic Council.

Jessica Fountain

Jessica is a freshman from Ionia, MI, majoring in Information Systems. She is also involved in S.T.A.G.E. and the Honors College.

James Powers

James is a senior from Clio, MI, majoring in Biomedical Science. He is also involved in Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.

Robert Zinger

Robert is a senior from Marion, MI, majoring in Political Science and minoring in Environmental Studies. He is also involved in Sigma Pi Fraternity and has previous experience in both the Student Environment Coalition and the Service & Advocacy Funding Board.

Alyssa is a senior from Sterling Heights, MI majoring in Hospitality and Tourism Management with a minor in General Business.

James Gallagher

James is a senior from Farmington, MI, majoring in Political Science. He is also the Historian for Delta Upsilon Fraternity and the Vice President of Administration of the Students for Concealed Carry Club.

Tendo Lukwago

Tendo is a sophomore from Farmington Hills, MI, double majoring in Economics and Management. He is also involved in the GVSU Track & Field Team.

Sarah Hay

Sarah is a junior majoring in International Relations and Middle Eastern Studies Minor.  She is from Aurora, IL. She sits on the Sustainability Sub-committee, Presidents Ball subcommittee, Constitution Task Force, and SAM sub-committee. 

James Blessman

James is a junior from Farmington Hills, MI, majoring in Political Science and minoring in African American Studies. He is also involved in Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Brennen Gorman, Vice President of Educational Affairs

Brennen is a junior from South Lyon, MI double majoring in Political Science Professional Writing with an emphasis in Public Relations and with a Criminal Justice minor. He is also involved in Theta Chi Fraternity.

Kathleen Carlson

Kathleen is a junior from White Lake, MI, majoring in Allied Health Sciences and minoring in Spanish. She is also involved in Transitions, the Honors College, Sigma Kappa Sorority, the Pre-Physican Assistant Club, and the We Watch Movies Club.

Craig Flora

Craig is a junior from Highland, MI, majoring in Criminal Justice. He is also involved in Sigma Phi Epsilon.

Meagan Wolschon

Meagan is a junior from New Baltimore, MI, majoring in Political Science and minoring in History. She is also involved in Sigma Kappa Sorority and the Junior Panhellenic Council.

Kimberely Wallace

Kim is a junior from Grand Blanc, Michigan, double majoring in History and Art History. She is also the Historian and Co-Vice President of Service for Kappa Kappa Psi Honorary Band Fraternity and is involved in the Laker Marching Band, the University Band, and the Basketball and Volleyball Pep Bands.

Nick Conley

Nick is a junior from Sterling Heights, MI, majoring in Economics and minoring in General Business. He is also involved with Campus Dining and Phi Chi Theta Business Fraternity.

Nick Girimont, Vice President of Diversity Affairs

Nick is a senior from Canton, MI, majoring in Political Science. He is also involved in Law Society.

James is a junior from Midland, MI majoring in International Relations and minoring in Arabic.

Vince Panozzo

Vince is a senior from Grand Haven, MI. He is majoring in Political science, minoring in French and Environmental studies. He's the Chair of the Sustainability Subcommittee, involved in the Student Environmental Coalition and Nouveaux Socialistes. He works at the LGBT Resource Center.

Kirsten Clemens

Kisten is a junior from Canton,  MI, majoring in Mathematics and double minoring in Biology and Chemistry with am emphasis in Secondary Education. She is also involved in the Honors College and Alternative Breaks.

Ricky Benavidez, Jr.

Ricky is a senior from Fennville, MI, majoring in History and Public and Non-Profit Administration with an emphasis in Community Development, and minoring in Women and Gender Studies. He is also involved in Alternative Breaks, the Laker Marching Band, and Kappa Kappa Psi Honorary Fraternity.

Erin Jenkinson

Erin is a sophomore from Burton, MI, majoring in Allied Health Sciences. She is also involved in the Pre-P.A. Club and Sisters of Strength.

Samantha Stevens

Samantha is a sophomore from Adrian, MI, double majoring in French and Secondary Education and minoring in Psychology.

Trevor TenBrink, Vice President of Political Affairs

Trevor is a junior from Jenison, MI, majoring in Political Science.  He is involved in Pi Sigma Alpha, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and Law Society.

Christine Thiele

Christine is a junior from Midland, MI, majoring in Marketing. She is involved in the Catholic Campus Ministry and National Residence Hall Honorary.

Jennie Hlady

Jennie is a sophomore from Howell, MI, majoring in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Social Studies.

Derek Moretz

Derek is a junior from Jackson, MI, triple majoring in Economics, Political Science, and Sociology. He is also involved in Amnesty International and Alternative Breaks.

Hannah Webb

Hannah is a junior from Monroe, MI, majoring in Biomedical Science and double minoring in Political Science and Chemistry. She is also involved in Law Society.

Christopher Murphy

Chris is a senior from Yandotte, MI, majoring in International Relations and minoring in History. He is also involved in the Rugby Team.

Olivia Jenison

Olivia is a freshman from Howell, MI, majoring in Political Science. In her spare time she works on political campaigns.

Nick Ryder, Vice President of Public Relations

Nick is a senior from Grosse Pointe Park, MI majoring in Hospitality and Tourism Management and double minoring in Business and Non Profit Administration. He works in the Administration Office as well as the Admissions Office at Grand Valley.  

Lindsay Viviano

Lindsay is a sophomore from Clarkston, MI, majoring in Political Science and minoring in Spanish. She is also involved with Student Ambassadors.

Jannessa Silcock

Jannessa is a junior from Troy, MI, majoring in Advertising and Public Relations.  Jannessa is a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity. 

Spencer Richardson

Spencer is a sophomore from Alpena, MI, majoring in International Relations and double minoring in French and Chinese. He is also involved in Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

Ty Currie

Ty is a sophomore from Grand Blanc, MI, majoring in Physical Therapy.  He is also involved in Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

Krystal Wilson

Krystal is a junior from Coopersville, MI, majoring in Art & Design and minoring in Business. She works in the University Promotions Office, held the title of Miss Grand Valley State in 2011,  and is involved in Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Society and the ROTC program at Western Michigan University.
