Presidents' Ball

‘A Roman Triumph’

February 6th, 2009

In Honor of

President Thomas J. Haas and Student Body President Autumn W. Trombka

This year’s Presidents’ Ball will serve as the 23rd installment as a Grand Valley tradition. During that time, the event grew from being in the upper-level of the Kirkhof Center, as a small, into the largest attended event next to a football game, at the DeVos Place in downtown Grand Rapids. Last year, we clocked in over FOUR thousand in attendance.

It’s amazing to see the connections that are made between these groups out of the classroom; each one learning that anyone can have a good time, no matter what the venue is or what occupation that one holds.

The concept behind A Roman Triumph includes both an educational and a university focus. Educationally, we can provide insight into the life of ancient Romans, to their religion practices, their daily routines, and their interactions with newly discovered civilizations. With the University focus, this event can highlight our accomplishments from the previous year— academics, athletics, and overall Grand Valley success. By February, we would have “triumphed” over the NCA re-accreditation process, and would need an event to celebrate our progress, and what better event than Presidents’ Ball?
