Q:       Do I need to bring my ID?

A:        You must bring a photo id to enter the event.

Q:        This is my first year at Grand Valley; can I attend Presidents’ Ball?

A:        Yes you can! Presidents’ Ball is open to all students, staff, faculty, community members… you name it, they are welcome to come. That includes ANYBODY, as long as they bring a photo ID.

Q:        How much do tickets cost?

A:        Tickets for the dinner, program and dance are $30 and the dance only tickets are $10 in advance and $20 at the door.

Q:        Where can I purchase the tickets at?

A:        Tickets can be purchased at the 2020 desk in the Kirkhof Center the first week in January 2009.

 

Q:        Can I wear a toga to Presidents’ Ball?

A:        Presidents’ Ball is a formal event, where students and the Grand Valley community come together. You will not be admitted if you are wearing a toga.

Q:        I don’t have a car; how do I get to Presidents’ Ball?

A:        This year the Presidents’ Ball Planning Committee decided to charter busses that go from Kirkhof Center/Mackinac Hall to DeVos Place. There is also a charter shuttle that goes from under to US 131 Bridge bus stop to DeVos Place. See Bus schedule on left hand menu.

Q:        What time do the doors close for admittance to the dance?

A:        The doors close for the dance at 11:00 pm.

Q:        Where can I see the menu for the dinner and what options will be available?

A:        The menu will be located on this website. We offer a chicken and a vegetarian option for our guests.

Q:        Where is DeVos Place?

A:        303 Monroe Ave NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503

Q:        I hear there is alcohol available at Presidents’ Ball, is that true?

A:        Yes, Presidents’ Ball does have alcohol available at the cash bars in the main gallery. All guests choosing to purchase alcohol must provide state issued identification that they are 21 years of age.

Q:        Which entrance are we entering in at DeVos Place?

A:        All guests should enter Presidents’ Ball on the Lyon Street entrance.

Q:        What happens during the program?

A:        This year’s program consists of many performances including singing, dancing, and readings. The Student Senate also presents the Student Award for Faculty Excellence and the Distinguished Individual of the Year. Both President Haas and President Trombka will present the Presidential Appreciation Award.
