The Grand Valley State University Wrestling Team has been a staple of success in small college wrestling. The team has won EIGHT National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA) Championships (5 Traditional Format and 3 Dual Format) since joining in the 2000-2001 season. In addition, 64 student-athletes have combined to earn 116 All-American awards including 16 wrestlers who won 22 Individual National Championships. The wrestling team competes not only against other club teams, but varsity programs as well. Each year the team travels to DI wrestling opens hosted by Eastern Michigan University and Michigan State University. The Lakers fill their schedule with teams from NCAA D3 and NJCAA, such as Olivet College, Alma College, and Muskegon Community College. Meeting Times
Workouts are held regularly throughout the academic year from 4 pm to 6 pm in multipurpose room B30 of the Fieldhouse. Open Mats and conditioning workouts are held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the months of September and April. Practices are held Tuesday through Fridays during the months of October through March.
