Grand Valley Secular Alliance is a student group for atheists, agnostics, humanists, skeptics, and other freethinkers and we are the only non-religious student group on campus. We are affiliates of the Secular Student Alliance and Center for Inquiry - Michigan.
The Secular Student Alliance promotes the values of naturalism, reason and compassion in the service of making the world a better place for all humanity. We share a philosophical worldview informed by the methods of science, recognize the evolution of our knowledge, and be free from dogma and open to revision as new evidence and more compelling reasons are presented.
The Center for Inquiry promotes and defends reason, science, and freedom of inquiry in education. We are committed to the enhancement of freethought, skepticism, secularism, humanism, philosophical naturalism, rationalism, and atheism on college and high school campuses.We are a community of non-religious students and allies at GVSU dedicated to promoting secularism in all aspects of life. We give non-theists a place to exchange ideas in an environment that is free from dogmatism, bigotry, and superstition. Offering everyone with secular values a place to contribute to their community out of kindness and compassion for humanity. Our goal is to promote scientific research, critical analysis, and secular values.
