This group is designed to help inform people of the culture that the Deaf community calls their own. Our goal is to study American Sign Language (ASL), along with Deaf etiquette and culture. Although it is called "American" Sign Language, it in no way follows English grammar and syntax. This is what makes ASL so unique! The state of Michigan is ranked #9 in the 50 states for having the number of Deaf and Hard of Hearing people living in the state. You will realize that the real problem lies in the number of certified interpreters we have. We are only rated #45! This is a major problem that needs to be solved. Our main goal as a group is to make people aware that there is a whole new world out there in the Deaf community. Why not check it out?
