GVSU Dance Troupe provides an opportunity for dancers and choreographers to express their passion for dance in a fun environment. It is a non-competitive, student-run dance organization that caters to all dancing styles and levels. We offer beginner, intermediate and advanced level dances. Some of the styles we offer include jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, contemporary, modern, hip-hop, musical theater, and pointe.
We have been a student organization since 1996 and in the past fifteen years, our organization has grown from 25 to 250 dancers making it the university's largest student organization. In 1997 we received recognition as the best student organization on campus, as well as, the most improved. Dance Troupe was also recognized during the 2010-2011 season for our hours of service and our donations to two local charities. In recent years, Dance Troupe has collected donations on behalf of many organizations like Toys for Tots, Mel Trotter Ministries, and Grand Rapids Public Schools. Our goal each semester is to work together to raise money or donate supplies to an organization through the generous help of our members, family, and friends.
