Rommel Reyes- Spotlight Productions' Music Chair Wins this Years Immediate Impact Award
Rommel Reyes who serves as Music Chair of Spotlight Productions was the recipient of the 2009 Immediate Impact Award. The Immediate Impact Award honors a member of a student organization that has had a significant impact on their organization within the first few weeks of the semester. Within the first two months of the semester, Rommel headed up five large events including; the co-programmed Battle of the Bands, Acapella band InPulse, two Open-Mic Nights, and the record breaking Homecoming Concert featuring Motion City Soundtrack (which sold over 2,200 tickets). Due to Rommels hard work and dedication to Spotlight Productions he was honored at the Venderbush Leadership reception on October 30th.
Spotlight Productions wins NACA's 2009 Excellence in Programming Award
Spotlight Productions (GVSU's student programming board) attended the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) Mid- America Conference and received the most prestigious "Excellence in Programming Award". The Excellence in Programming Award recognizes one outstanding member school in each of the three budget size categories; exemplifying what an exceptional programming board should be. The award was based upon promotional materials, event/organizational pictures, testimonials, evaluation information and letters of recommendation. Spotlight Productions beat out all other college programming boards in the Mid-America region; including those in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia.
