What is the Interfaith Council?
As you may have heard through the Lanthorn, MAX it Out, and other correspondence from the Student Senate, the Student Organization Funding process has been revised for the 2009-2010 fiscal year. Rather than allocating annual budgets, the Senate has allocated funds to Student Organization Councils. This new procedure also provides funds for campus programming to faith based organizations.
Each Council will meet regularly and grant funds to member organizations on a program-by-program basis. The Interfaith Council has been allocated $6,000 for the 2009-2010 fiscal year. The Council may also request additional funds from the Student Senate through the Reserve Request process.
Interfaith Council Meetings
It is understandable that some Presidents may not be able to attend, however a student representative needs to be in attendance at every IC meeting. An organization may send multiple representatives, however a minimum of one student from each organization must be in attendance. Each member organization will receive one vote on Council business. Please note this meeting replaces the “Campus Life Board” meetings of past years and attendance is essential for organizations to receive funding from Student Senate.
Advisors may attend, however, a student must be in attendance to represent the organization.
Attendance will be taken and will count as a regular meeting. (This can affect funding later.)
The first meeting of the year will be at Max It Out on September 7 from 1-4pm. Our meetings for the 2010 - 2011 Academic Year 9/13 (1104 KC), 10/11 (2215 KC), 11/8 (1104 KC), 12/13 (0072 KC), 1/17 (1104 KC), 2/21 (1104 KC), 3/21 (1104 KC), 4/11 (1104 KC). All meetings are at 9pm in the KC.
