5pm - Homecoming Team Meeting (KC 2266) Send at least one representative of your team to the team meeting to recieve all the latest updates, details and info for the 2009 Homecoming! Banners will be distributed at this time. Attendance is not mandatory, however, highly encouraged. Teams unable to send a representative will be able to pick up their banner Tuesday Morning.
Monday, October 12th
6pm - Homecoming Banners due to the OSL Front Desk (KC 1110)
Banners will be distributed at the Homecoming Team meeting on Monday, October 5th.
Banners will be a half twin sheet.
Banners may not be cut or altered in size.
Banners will be grommeted and hung vertically.
Banners will be judged on: Artistic Ability/Neatness, Overall Impression and Use of Theme "Laker Round Up"
Late Banners will be given participation points only.
No banners will be accepted after Tuesday, October 13th at Noon.
Winners will be announced at Lip Synch
Scoring:
First Place: 20 points
Second Place: 16 points
Third Place: 13 points
Participation: 5points
9pm - Homecoming Regent Serenades at Cook Carillon Tower
Each organization that has nominated a candidate for Homecoming Regent will have an opportunity to serenade their Regent Candidate for 5 points. At the end of the evening the Homecoming Regent Court will be announced.
Serenades must be kept to a four (4) minute maximum.
Rain location is Kirkhof Lobby.
Tuesday, October 13th
1pm - Homecoming Stampede at Cook Carillon Tower
An "Amazing Race" style event that comibines running, trivia, and mini-challenges.
Please note that this event is an endurance event that is over three miles long.
Teams will be comprised of three (3) males and three (3) females.
All six members of the team must be at each station before they will be given the next clue, challenge or trivia question.
Teams will leave the start location in two minute increments.
Use of any motorized vehicles, bicycles, skateboards/long boards, rollerblades, etc will result in disqualification.
Items will be recieved from each station that must be submitted at the end of the race.
You must have at least one (1) representative from each organization on your team participating in this event.
This event is a timed event, the fastest team to complete, minus any penalties will win.
Penalties: Incorrect answer + 1:30 minute, Skipped Location + 12 minutes, Use of Prohibited equipment = Disqualification
Scoring:
First Place = 25 points
Second Place = 21 points
Third Place = 18 points
Participation = 10 points
6pm - Lip Synch CD's Due to OSL Front Desk
Participation points for getting your CD in on time!
CD's must be clearly labeled with team name and complete song list.
All music should be in good taste, keep in mind that the judges are often high ranking GVSU Officials.
CD length can not exceed 8 minutes.
At least on song used on the CD must be a "country" song.
Songs do not need to be used in their entirety.
Penalties: Groups who do not turn in their CD by 6pm will not get the the three participation points. Groups will have until Wednesday at 6pm to submit a CD to be eligible to perform. Groups who do not have a CD in by Wednesday at 6pm will not be permitted to perform.
Teams consist of three members and must have at least one male and one female on each team.
Teams may change players between rounds.
Teams will be allowed to buzz in only after the question is read completely.
Teams may discuss answers prior to buzzing, but all communication must stop once someone buzzes in.
The person that buzzes in must be the person who answers the question.
Once someone buzzes in they have 10 seconds to answer the question.
If a team answers incorrectly, the opposing team will have the opportunity hear the question again and an additional 10 seconds to answer.
If both teams answer incorrectly the round moves on to the next question
There is no loss of points for an incorrect answer.
Each round will consist of ten questions.
Questions will progressively be worth more points.
Questions one through four are each worth 1 point.
Questions five through eight are each worth 2 points.
Questions nine and ten are each worth 3 points.
The team with the most points after ten questions advances to the next round
In the event of a tie, an additional question will be asked and the first team to buzz in with the correct answer wins.

Second Place = 21 points
Third Place = 18 points

Wednesday, October 14th
9pm - Lazer Tag "Shoot Out" at 9pm in 2250 Kirkhof Center (Grand River Room) Bracket Style Lazer Tag Shoot Out
Teams consist of four (4) members, two males and two females.
Teams may change players between rounds.
Teams will enter a 30' diameter inflatable dome to compete in timed rounds to earn the most points, by shooting the other teams sensors.
Teams with the most points, continue to the next round. The other team is eliminated.
Lazer Tag will open at 8pm for practice, with the team competition begining at 9pm.
Scoring:
First Place = 20 points
Second Place = 16 points
Third Place = 13 points
Participation = 5 points
Thursday, October 15th
9pm - Lip Synch Competition at 9pm in Fieldhouse Arena Grand Valley Students take the stage in one of Grand Valley's oldest Homecoming Traditions the Lip Synch!
Performance can not exceed 8 minutes in length including set up and tear down.
Teams must utilize the CD submitted on Tuesday. For song details, see Tuesday's information.
It is highly recommended that teams bring an IPOD back up of music with them.
Teams will be randomly drawn for order.
Stage is 40' x 40', with access stairs on each side and a backdrop.
Performances are judged on Choreography, Lip Synch Performance, Transitions, Costume's/Props, Overall Entertainment Value and Use of Theme "Laker Round Up".
Performances must use at least five (5) males and five (5) females in their performance.
Each performance should be kept tasteful.
Each team must have at least two representatives from each organization on your team participate.
Judges will include distinguished members of the GVSU community.
Admission is free and doors open at 8pm, get there early for a good seat!
Penalties:
No items may be thrown off the stage - Immediate Disqualification.
No members may leave the stage to perform in the audience or on/for judges - Immediate Disqualification.
Any members who appear to have been drinking or intoxicated will be immediately asked to leave and their team shall be immediately disqualified. If the team has not performed, they will not be permitted to do so.
Teams that go over the 8 minute mark, will lose judges points at the rate of five (5) per 15 seconds.

First Place = 35 points
Second Place = 30 points
Third Place = 25 points

Friday, October 16th
2pm - Homecoming Showdown at Kirkhof Center West Lawn
(Basketball Relay, Horse Shoe Toss, Mechanical Bull, Tug of
War, and Defender Dome) Let the Games Begin! Several Team Competitions may be occurring at the same time, be sure to have enough participants on hand!
Team Competitions jump into high gear with a host of challenges being held. Challenges include a Basketball Relay (Mini-Allstars), Mechanical Bull, Horse Shoe Elimination Challenge, Tug of War, and the Defender Dome Timed Challenge!
Basketball Relay Bracketed, single elimination, event with four members of your team, (two females, two male) race to make it through to the next round.
The goal is for each team to score 8 points prior to the team they are racing against, to make it to the next round.
Teams will have to pass the ball relay style, running 15 feet to the Mini-All Star site and taking a shot, then returning the ball to their next teammate.
Each team will continue this process until either they score 8 points, or the other team knocks them out.
Scoring:
First Place = 15 points
Second Place = 11 points
Third Place = 8 points
Participation = 5 points
Mechanical Bull Mechanical Bull Ride that will challenge two males and two females from each team.
Each team will have two males and two females that compete in this event.
The goal of this event is to get the highest combined male and female time.
Only the times of the male and the female that ride for the longest will be counted.
The rider of the mechanical bull may only hold on with one hand and must keep the other hand in the air, holding a cowboy hat.
Dropping the cowboy hat, grabbing onto the mechanical bull or falling off the bull will result in the time being stopped.
Scoring:
First Place = 15 points
Second Place = 11 points
Third Place = 8 points
Participation = 5 points
Horseshoe Toss The goal of this game is simple, can you get your horseshoe closest to the pole.
Each team will have one female and one male representative working as a team.
Rounds shall alternate between males and females throwing a horseshoe at the pole.
The individual each round with the horseshoe the furthest from the pole, will result in their team being eliminated.
Scoring:
First Place = 15 points
Second Place = 11 points
Third Place = 8 points
Participation = 5 points
Defender Dome
You and your teammate work to defend your goals against another team in a very fast moving inflatable game. Two teams face off against each other both defending and attacking goals in a timed challenge to see who can earn the most points to eliminate the other team.
One male and one female will represent each team in the defender dome.Each round will last three minutes. The goal is for each team to score 8 points prior to the team they are racing against, to make it to the next round.
Teams will have to pass the ball relay style, running 15 feet to the Mini-All Star site and taking a shot, then returning the ball to their next teammate.
Each team will continue this process until either they score 8 points, or the other team knocks them out.
Scoring:
First Place = 15 points
Second Place = 11 points
Third Place = 8 points
Participation = 5 points
Tug of War
The Homecoming Challenge ends with a high value event that brings an entire team together, the Tug of War.
Five Males and Five Females must be present to compete.
No cleats are permitted.
Gloves are permitted.
No sitting on the rope.
No tying people to the rope.
The rope will be marked at the halfway point.
The rope needs to be pulled across the marked point to beat the other team.
You must have at least two (2) members representing each organization on your team participate.
Teams may change those participating between rounds, but must always have five males, five females, and at least two members from each organization on the team.
Scoring:
First Place = 25 points
Second Place = 21 points
Third Place = 18 points

Saturday, October 17th
7pm - Lakers take on Findlay at Lubbers Field
Homecoming Regents Announced Homecoming Team Champs Announced The week ends with the crowning of the Homecoming Regents, the announcement of the Homecoming Team Champs an, of course, Laker Football!
