Student Employment Office

ON CAMPUS LAKERJOBS INSTRUCTIONS

Access the LakerJobs-Employer Page.

Your department will already have a Username and password.  Enter this information and click on "Login".

If you are unsure if your department is registered on Job Board, click on "click here to register"

  • You will then come to Registration Organization screen.
  • Enter department name in "Find Your Organization". As you type, the system will show you a list of matching organizations.
  • If you locate your department, STOP. Call the Student Employment Office (616-331-3238) to get your original user ID and password.

View and Edit Jobs:

  • Highlight "My Jobs" click "Job List"
  • Scroll Down
  • UPDATES: we have updated the system and when importing files your old "Job ID" was the order created.  Therefore, your "Job ID" has now changed.
  • Click either "Job ID or the "Job Title" to change information on the specific Job.
  • Click on "Edit" for each section you wish to change.

Add a Job:

  • Highlight "My Jobs Click "New Job"
  • Complete ALL sections.
  • Posting Information:
  • In the Postition Type: Ensure to select appropriate GVSU Regular or GVSU Work-Study. Multiple selections allowed.
  • In the Applicant Type: Ensure to select which population of students you want to be able to apply. Student and/or Student: Work-Study.  Multiple selections are allowed.

Close a Job Search and Inactivate a Job:

  • Highlight "My Jobs" click "Job List
  • Click   "Job ID" or the "Job Title" of the specific job you wish to close.
  • Click "Close Job" under the BLUE icon 'Page Functions' (left side of form).

Hiring a Student Worker:

  • Select the "Report a Hire" button under the RED icon 'I want to . . .' (left side of form.)
  • Enter student's Gnumber.
  • Click 'Select Student' .
  • After Selecting Student you will see a list of your jobs, Click 'Select Job'
  • Fill in all required fields
  • The Work-Study placement will always be marked as "Yes" even if the student does not have work study.
  •  Finish.   
  • This will take you to a screen where you can review the Placement information.
  • You may then click on 'Report a Hire' to enter more students or 'Home' to take you back to your employer home page.     

To Rehire a Student

  • Never edit an existing placement. You must create a new hire in order to allow a student to continue their employment.
  • Follow the instructions under "Hiring A Student Worker"

To Change a Wage for a Student:

Wage increases cannot be retroactive, and must start at the beginning of the next pay period.

  • Highlight "My Jobs", click "Job List"
  • Scroll down
  • Click  the "P" (Placement) under Activity column of the job that the student was hired under.
  • Click  "View" under Action column of the student you are increasing wage for.
  • In Placement Information edit the end date (use last day of the current pay period). SAVE.
  • Follow the Hiring a Student Worker directions from above.
  •  

To View a Student's Work-Study Earnings:

  • Highlight " My Jobs", click "Job List"
  • Click on the "P" (Placement) under Activity column of the job the student was hired for.
  • Click Work Study tab, choose the current award period... this will show list of students and what their work-study earnings are.
  • You may click on student's name to see what their work-study award amount is.   

End a Work Assignment:

  • Highlight "My Jobs", click "Job List"
  • Click "P" (placement) under the Activity column of the specific job the student is placed under.
  • Click "View" on student's current assignment that needs to be ended.
  • In Placement Information change end date (use last day of current pay period). SAVE
