Meeting Within a Meeting (MWM) Statistics Workshop for Middle- and High-School Mathematics and Science Teachers & Beyond AP Statistics (BAPS) Workshop

The American Statistical Association (ASA)/National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) Joint Committee is pleased to announce half-registration sponsorships available for two statistics workshops this summer in Chicago to strengthen knowledge and teaching of data analysis and statistics in the Common Core State Standards (for middle and high school math and science teachers) and AP statistics curriculum (for experienced AP statistics teachers).
Meeting Within a Meeting (MWM) Statistics Workshop for Middle- and High-School Mathematics and Science Teachers – Chicago, Illinois – August 2–3, 2016
MWM will take place in conjunction with the Joint Statistical Meetings this summer in Chicago. The workshop is meant to strengthen mathematics and science teachers’ understanding of statistics and provide them with hands-on activities aligned with the Common Core State Standards that they can use in their own classrooms. The cost of the workshop is $50. Optional graduate credit is also available. Online registration is available atwww.amstat.org/education/mwm. There are half-registration scholarships available for the first 40 teachers who register and attend the MWM Statistics Workshop.
Beyond AP Statistics (BAPS) Workshop – Chicago, Illinois – August 3, 2016
The ASA/NCTM Joint Committee is pleased to sponsor a Beyond AP Statistics workshop at the annual Joint Statistical Meetings. Organized by Roxy Peck, the BAPS workshop is offered for experienced AP Statistics teachers and consists of enrichment material just beyond the basic AP syllabus. The cost of the workshop is $50. Optional graduate credit is also available. Online registration is available at www.amstat.org/education/baps .There are half-registration scholarships available for the first 20 teachers who register and attend the Beyond AP Statistics (BAPS) Workshop.
We are offering these workshops (workshop flyers linked below) in Chicago in conjunction with the 2016 Joint Statistical Meetings as prominent statisticians and statistics educators will be in Chicago for the conference. Because space is limited, we recommend that interested teachers register as soon as possible. Registration for the Joint Statistical Meetings is not required to attend the workshops.
