Statistical Computing, Engineering applications
Dr. Zeitler received a B.S. in Statistics and an M.S. in Systems Science/Operations Research from Michigan State University, an M.S. in Applied Statistics and his Ph.D. in Statistics from Western Michigan University working jointly with both the Statistics and Computer Science department on empirical testing of random number generators. Prior to coming to GVSU in 2004 he worked for 23 years as an engineer in software and systems development for aerospace and material handling firms in west Michigan, receiving several patents in material handling systems and attaining a rank of principal engineer in both Smiths Industries and Siemens Logistics and Assembly. Current interests include statistical computing, engineering and health sciences applications of statistics. He is also active in consulting in local industry and within GVSU on several graduate and faculty research efforts in Cell and Molecular Biology, Health Sciences, Engineering and Computing and Information Systems.
