Biography

Professor Roznowski earned a Ph.D. in Sociology from Western Michigan University in 2022. With nearly a decade of higher education teaching experience throughout West Michigan, Rob strives to foster a welcoming and engaging classroom environment that promotes critical thinking through a lens of empathy. Rob maintains an interest in pedagogy in education and recently participated in the Strong Start Teaching Institute hosted by the Pew Faculty Teaching and Learning Center. Previously taught courses include introductory sociology, social problems, research methods, and environmental and sustainability studies.

Rob’s master’s thesis involved a cross-national analysis of global internet diffusion and shifting gender attitudes. Rob’s doctoral dissertation was a case study of urban sustainability planning in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Current research interests include urban sustainability planning and sustainable development, environmental justice and environmental racism, community organizing, philanthrocapitalism, and pedagogy in education.
