Biography

Professor Phillips specializes in political economy, with substantive focus in U.S. Social Problems and deindustrialization, Social Class Inequality, and Criminology. He is a former General Motors employee, as a member of both labor and management. Drawing from this unique experience, he brings to the classroom an interesting and at times funny depiction of the way the world works. Professor Phillips is currently working on a research project at a former General Motors metal fabrication division in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Professor Phillips has several co-authored publications, is a recipient of the 2017-2018 Fulbright award, has presented several papers at international academic conferences and has taught and lectured in Germany and Poland.
