Welcome to the SMART Center!

The SMART Center provides on-going academic and career advising, for all students interested in Science and Mathematics, within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
|
Our services include, but are not limited to the following:
- An initial starting place for students seeking academic advisement in Science and Math.
- Pre-professional advising for students seeking entrance into medical, dental, optometry, chiropractic, podiatry, veterinary, and pharmacy schools (including application information and mock interviews).
- Teacher certification
- Career exploration information and referrals
- Dissemination of all GVSU academic policies and procedures

- General Education and Basic Skills advising
- Outreach to students on academic probation and in jeopardy of dismissal
- Referrals to appropriate faculty for information on elective course selection, career opportunities and graduate schools
- A "where to go" place for all types of information, forms and procedures

In addition to our advising services, two academic support services are managed out of this office:
Math and Science Student Support, MS3, provides a variety of support services to students outside of class including tutoring and study groups.
The Structured Learning Assistance program, SLA, enhances learning opportunities by providing additional course contact hours in a few designated entry level courses within science and mathematics.
