We came into the world like brother and brother,
And now let's go hand in hand, not one before another.
(Dromio of Ephesus Act V Scene 1)

September 26, October 2, 3, 4, at 7:30 p.m.
September 27, 28, October 5 at 2 p.m.

This year West Michigan becomes the Wild West—Yee Haw!! So saddle up and ride like the wind to our shindig of show, The Comedy of Errors. It’s a right smart show, a rip-snortin’ side-splitter that will leave you happy as a hog in mud. In fact, for this Shakespearean farce, it’s double the pleasure and double the fun as two sets of identical twins find themselves in a Wild West town “troubled with unruly boys.” The twin Dromios and servant twin Antipholi have been separated at birth, and because “every why hath a wherefore” the play throws in a “a hungry, lean-faced villain” to stir the pot. It’s one balled up bag of nails to be sure.

Two sets of identical twins, separated at birth, miraculously find themselves years later in the same town in the Wild West, setting off an uproarious adventure of mistaken identity. The Comedy of Errors, one of Shakespeare's most perfect (and daring) plots comes alive in Western style, with the raucous energy and brilliant wordplay that makes Shakespeare so much fun. The festival turns 21 this season, so it’s into the saloon we go.  Get set for the rip roaringest Grand Valley Shakespeare Festival ever. Make sure you do si do on out to the wild west of Allendale  located just minutes from Grand Rapids, Holland, and Muskegon, to be a part of our rootin’ tootin; and unforgettable events and performances.  Y’all don’t you error by missing out on this comedy.

The Mainstage festival production always features visiting professional guest artists, regional artists, and Grand Valley students.  Also joining the production are local actor and alumnus Kyle Westmaas as Egeon, father to the Dromios, local stage manager Amelia Crist, and alumnus choreographer and no stranger to the Shakespeare Festival, Christian Vigrass, who has also worked on Much Ado About Nothing and As You Like It.
