Each year, GVSF hires union and non-union artists, technicians, managers, directors, and designers for its upcoming season, depending upon particular staffing needs. While Grand Valley State University faculty, staff and students fill many of these positions each year, the company always consists of a mix of campus, community and professional talent to a significant degree.

are hired to fill positions as publicists, education directors, marketing directors, house managers, box office managers, and production assistants. Individuals seeking employment in these roles should contact the Festival director in February each year to learn whether vacancies exist for the coming season, and to place their materials on file with us. Pay scales are negotiable, ranging from $500 - $4,000; and appointments will only rarely include transportation, lodging, and other benefits. are hired to fill positions as directors, stage managers, choreographers, combatives experts, musicians and designers. Individuals seeking employment in these roles should contact the Festival director in February each year to learn whether vacancies exist for the coming season, and to place their materials on file with us. Pay scales are negotiable, ranging from $1,000 - $7,000, and appointments can include transportation, lodging, and other benefits. may submit their resumés and other materials in advance of the spring auditions, and may arrange for private auditions if they wish, and at the directors` convenience. should attend the general auditions Grand Valley State University`s Allendale campus in April. All are paid stipends for their work, beginning at $500+. are normally held in Chicago and arranged through the Actors Equity office. Union artists are notified of these calls, which occur every March or as late as April. Actors and stage managers are hired under an Equity Guest Artist contract at Equity minimum, usually for a period of seven weeks; and artists are provided with a rental car, accommodations, per diem, and travel expenses. Artists are also expected to teach apprentice students during their guest artist residency.
