Stuff the Bus 2012

GIVE!  Help GVSU STUFF THE BUS!

Part of the Heart of West Michigan United Way's "Schools of Hope" program, Stuff the Bus is a community-wide collection of classroom supplies to benefit Schools of Hope schools in Cedar Springs, Godfrey-Lee, Godwin and Grand Rapids Public Schools (GRPS).
 
Why Stuff the Bus?
 
Public schools, by law, are required to provide all necessary school supplies to their students. In many school districts this does not present a great problem, since many students still bring their own supplies. The situation is different in the schools served by Schools of Hope however, in which combined, over 70% of the children in these districts qualify for free or reduced lunch, meaning that they live in some degree of poverty. Parents can often not afford to provide their children with the needed supplies and school budgets are stretched to the limit. 

Suggested school supplies for donation: 

Lined paper Index cards
Hand sanitizer 2-pocket folders
Pencils Sanitary wipes
Printer paper (ream packages) Round-ended scissors
Elmer's glue Glue sticks
Markers Colored construction paper
Crayons Pencil boxes
1" 3-ring binders Blue and black pens
Tissues Erasers

*Monetary donations will also be accepted and donated to the Stuff the Bus efforts.  Please contact the Community Service Learning Center to make a donation. GVSU Collection dates: August 27 - September 11.

Make a donation by cash or check: Stop by the Community Service Learning Center or Office of Student Life.  Checks should be made out to Grand Valley State University (in the memo line, please write "Stuff the Bus donation").  GVSU will present the United Way with one check at the end of our collection.
